2014 Big Dam Cab

  • Tasting Notes

Onyx core with deep garnet rim. Nose of boysenberries, blackberries, and blueberries layered with heavy cream, candied bacon, and baking spices. Following closely are earthy notes of pine needle, chaparral, and roasted herbs with a hint of jalapeño pepper commingled with spicy tobacco and a waft of brandied currants. Mouthfeel is broad, dense, and rich with a full body and vibrant yet contained tannins.

Our Big Dam Cab represents our only single vineyard bottling of Cabernet Sauvignon from the Brown Estate property. It is named for its site on the face of our Big Dam reservoir, a 35-acre-foot lake fed by several perennial springs at the mouth of a steep ravine flanked by granite cliffs. At 1200 feet above sea level the Big Dam site commands spectacular sweeping northward views through the Chiles Valley. Its namesake Cabernet Sauvignon is equally stunning both visually and on nose and palate.
