2013 Big Dam Cab

  • Tasting Notes

Visually stunning with a deep onyx core and magenta rim. True to its name, this is a BIG wine, loaded with succulent, ripe, juicy fruit commingled with a bouquet of purple flowers leading to an intriguing blend of forest floor funk and fragrant crème de cassis. Lusciously fruit forward with black fruits galore, toasted brioche, and crumble laced with grape and wood tannin and a trace of subtle green pepper. Time in the glass reveals dried autumn leaves, fig, and winter spiced cocoa. Mouthfeel is supple, deep, and rich with delicate fine tannins and a long, lingering finish. Pair with a hearty pepper crusted filet and all the trimmings, or your favorite. Drink now through 2033.

Our Big Dam Cab represents our first-ever single vineyard bottling of Cabernet Sauvignon from the Brown Estate property. It is named for its site on the face of our Big Dam reservoir, a 35-acre-foot lake fed by several perennial springs that sits at the mouth of a steep ravine flanked by stunning granite cliffs. At 1200 feet above sea level the Big Dam site commands spectacular sweeping northward views through the Chiles Valley. Its namesake Cabernet Sauvignon is equally stunning both visually and on the nose and palate.
