Winery & Cave
In 2001 we began construction to restore and convert our 1859 stone and redwood barn into a winery and tasting room facility. The following year our tasting room opened in the lower level of the barn and we began receiving visitors on a strict appointment-only basis in accordance with our permit. In 2004 we began our most ambitious construction project to date: the excavation of a 6500 square foot subterranean wine cave.
The cave was completed in May 2005, linking the winery building to the private residence via a small cellar door behind the house. The distinctly natural contours of the cave are a direct result of dynamite blasting through the solid granite hillside. The Brown Estate wine cave is one of the most unique subterranean wine caves in the Napa Valley.
